“La mentoria ha sigut un viatge i un procés de creixement brutal”
Volem incorporar 100 noves persones mentores abans d’acabar l’estiu per acompanyar al jovent tutelat i extutelat.

Ha treballat com a consultora d’investigació per Médicos Sin Fronteras i Transnational Institute, actualment és directora de polítiques i incidència a Eurodad, la xarxa europea de deute i desenvolupament. - A Catalunya, cada any 900 joves perden la xarxa de suport en deixar de ser tutelats, una situació que complica la seva transició a l’edat adulta. Per què vas triar la mentoria social com a eina per acompanyar al jovent tutelat i extutelat?
Tot i que coneixia una mica la situació del jovent tutelat i extutelat, és una realitat que m’era bastant llunyana. Vaig pensar que la mentoria era una manera ideal d’apropar-me al context d’aquest jovent, veïns i veïnes nostres que veuen vulnerats els seus drets diàriament, mentre que acompanyava i ajudava un jove concret. La possibilitat de conèixer més de prop la realitat del jovent em va empènyer a triar la mentoria social.
- Com va ser el procés per participar en els programes de punt de Referència?
Va ser molt fàcil, no vaig sentir-me sola en cap moment. Les sessions informatives i el curs van ser molt interessants i útils per acompanyar el jovent. Durant la mentoria, el suport per part de les companyes de Punt de Referència era total i les trobades amb la resta de mentors i mentores van servir per compartir experiències similars. Tot i que al principi no veia clares algunes coses del programa, a mesura que anava passant per les diferents fases, tot encaixava.
- Tota relació requereix esforç quan s’està construint. Com va ser l’inici de la teva relació amb el jove? Va ser fàcil conèixer-vos?
L’inici de la relació va ser complexa perquè ni jo ni el jove teníem massa temps disponible. No obstant, de seguida vam connectar, tot i que la relació no fos tan freqüent. Al principi, vam tenir unes dues primeres trobades per situar-nos i trencar expectatives sobre la relació. Al final, la mentoria va consistir a trobar-nos i parlar.
- Durant el procés vas tenir dubtes? Què et va ajudar a tenir confiança per continuar?
Sí, vaig tenir dubtes durant tot el procés, sorgeixen qüestions que no saps massa bé com abordar. Vaig dubtar si la meva manca de disponibilitat seria un aspecte negatiu durant la mentoria, però sempre he tingut el suport de la Marina, la tècnica de Punt de Referència que m’acompanyava.
La Marina em va assegurar que, per poc que fes, estava bé. Em va ajudar a tenir confiança per continuar i ser constant, i gràcies a això he pogut crear un vincle amb el jove.
- Un 65% del jovent valora els programes de mentoria com una empenta per emancipar-se. Quin impacte creus que té la mentoria en el jovent?
Potser aquesta pregunta l’hauria de respondre el jovent, però crec que els hi dona confiança i seguretat per tirar endavant. Tenen la sensació que no estan sols, saben que si tenen un problema, hi ha algú a qui recórrer. No crec que sigui una qüestió d’eines concretes, més aviat és la confiança i seguretat el que ajuda als joves a emancipar-se.
- Quan parlem d’impacte sempre parlem del jovent, però quin paper juga la mentoria per a les persones mentores?
Per mi la mentoria ha sigut un viatge i un procés de creixement brutal, crec que ha tingut més impacte en mi que en el jove. M’ha servit per ser més conscient dels meus privilegis, i sobretot dels obstacles i dificultats del jovent. En el nostre sistema, un somni tan senzill com jugar a futbol pot ser una gran dificultat pel jovent.
Durant la mentoria vaig poder desenvolupar eines i estratègies perquè el jove agafés confiança en mi però respectant els límits. En alguns moments, va ser un patiment per les dificultats del jove, però sempre vaig estar present.
- Punt de Referència està buscant incorporar 100 persones mentores abans de l’estiu. Voldries enviar algun missatge per a les persones que estan dubtant en si fer mentoria?
A les persones que esteu dubtant, us animo a fer mentoria. Jo tenia dubtes perquè no sabia si tindria prou temps per fer costat al jove, però el poc temps disponible, era útil, interessant i molt reconfortant. Crec que hem crescut els dos molt, i ara tinc una relació d’amistat molt bonica amb el jove.
La realitat del jovent està al nostre voltant, i el voluntariat és una oportunitat d’or per poder conèixer-la de primera mà i, a la vegada ser útil. La mentoria social és útil tant per tu com pel jove a qui acompanyes.
